In this motion picture, a real series of events has been put forth to the viewers. The story revolves around two main characters – a journalist Aloo and a ten-year-old boy in an orphanage named Ayush. Kunal Bhandari and Sudip Bhattacharjee, scripwrited, consider DRISHTIKON to be a mind-opener rather than just a movie or film. Kid Ayush portrayed by Areen Das and his ten-year-old is played by Marriz Mallick while Arannyo Roychowdhury portrays the teenage Ayush in DRISHTIKON and builds a great combination with Annie Sen. Being a “special child”, he is treated brutally by his parents who think that he doesn’t deserve them as parents. This shameful tragedy is one that can be found in every nook and corner of today’s society if combed carefully. Aloo, played by Annie Sen, takes him in and cares for him to the ends of the earth like her own child. Can this day be the day when he finally realizes that his parents’ house and the orphanage were never really his home? Nagar Kirtan or Nagar Sankirtan, is a tradition in the Indian religions involving the processional singing of holy hymns by a group in a residential area. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is credited with introducing the custom of Nagar Kirtan, which included singing not only lyrical verses dedicated to Krishna but also chanting and singing them repetitively on the streets of the city in the form of a procession. Nagar Kirtan is credited in the Vaishnava tradition with the introduction of the custom. The congregational singing of Chaitanya was done to folk tunes and accompanied by the boisterous booming of drums and cymbals. The main god that these songs are devoted to is Lord Krishna, but better known as Hari in these songs. In a generalized manner, calling Hari’s name as devotees is known as Harinam, which is being depicted by Priyanka Dasgupta as a Nagar Kirtani who goes about the streets singing her heart out about her devotion to Lord Hari. But this is something that Hindus and Sikhs share. Charulata is set in the late nineteenth century and tells the story of Charulata, a young, intelligent, educated, and beautiful woman. She is the wife of Bhupati, a wealthy upper-class Bengali gentleman. Bhupati is a product of Bengal’s renaissance, and he runs an English language newspaper called ‘The Sentinel,’ which criticizes the British government’s unfair practices in India. Bhupati and Charu have no children, and the man has very little time for his wife. He does, however, adore his wife and supports her natural artistic abilities. Charu’s days are spent reading and supervising household chores. In the middle of this, Bhupati’s cousin Amal arrives like a hurricane (quite literally) — a cheerful, unrestricted young fellow, just out of college, with no goals in life other than the furtherance of his scholarly ambitions. Bhupati delegates responsibility for Charu’s artistic development to his cousin. Amal and Charu, who are the same age and more friends than family members, start hanging out together. However, as time passes, Charu begins to fall in love with Amal. Amal, sensing this and disinclined to betray his brother’s trust, withdraws from Charu and leaves the city. Charu is shocked and depressed, and Bhupati realizes the truth when he hears her lament about the void Amal has left in her life. The man and his wife must now resolve — to gather the shards and reconstruct the damaged home. Enakshi Chowdhury has beautifully captivated the essence of the character Charulata. Rajrani Das on EIP. Chokher Bali is a Bengali novel written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1903 that recounts the lives of the main heroine, Binodini, and her connections with three people. It delves into Binodini, a beautiful widow, and Mahendra, one of the three other key characters, as well as his difficult connection with Asha, his girl-wife, and her mutually contradictory love for Behari, Mahendra’s adoptive brother. The material also addressed women’s education, underage weddings, patriarchal dominance within the family, and the destinies of three widows. The novel follows the existence of these three and Mahendra’s closest friend as they cope with challenges such as mistrust, infidelity, deception, and frequent disagreements. Tagore skilfully penned a sorrowful, moving story on the deception and pain that arise from being dissatisfied and unhappy. The name ‘Chokher Bali’ literally means an eye irritant or an eyesore, which Asha and Binodini have become for one another. Binodini appears as a sad widow, a friend, a temptress, and a contrite lady. The main character Binodini is a lady with shades of grey and real human weaknesses, not an idealised Indian woman. Binodini cannot accept her existence as a widow since she is still young and has needs and dreams. She feels aggrieved since she believes she is superior to Asha in every way and deserves the life she has. Tagore’s portrayal of Binodini is noteworthy because she defies society’s notion that widows abstain from all worldly wants. Rajrani Das, who has also worked in Unity Pictures’ Paanchphoron, is a very talented individual who has brought Binodini to the world in this era. Manbhanjan is one of the greatest short tales by Rabindranath Tagore. Manbhanjan is set in Calcutta under the British Raj and centres mostly around a married couple, Gopinath and Giribala, who are no longer together. Gopinath, in particular, has fallen out of love with his wife and has turned to other vices such as alcohol and women. He is a frequent visitor to the theatre, where he has nothing but admiration for the star, Labanga. He has an extramarital romance with Labanga, driven by his passion and her attractiveness. Giribala, on the other hand, is devastated by her husband’s actions. Desperate to witness the lady who has won her husband’s heart, she attends the theatre herself to see Labanga in action. Meanwhile, Giribala felt like a queen with a throne but no subjects amid the isolation of her lonely adolescence.  What follows is a lovely story about a woman’s liberation from the chains of her marriage. Sudha, Giribala’s maidservant, used to sing to her a song that began, ‘Let me write myself a slave upon the soles of thy feet,’ and Giribala could feel in her imagination that her beautiful feet were fully worthy of bearing inscriptions of everlasting slavery from conquered hearts, if only they could be free in their career of conquest. Enlightened by the words, Giribala took it upon herself to shun lust and endearment towards earthly possessions like expensive garments and jewellery and surrendered herself to Lord Krishna.
